Artificial Grass FAQs

Many of our customers often ask similar questions. We have collected them together here and hope you will find our responses helpful. However, should you have any questions which remain unanswered, or perhaps need a more detailed response, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone, letter or email.

What is the difference between sand filled and non sand filled?

With sand filled products, less yarn is used in manufacturing therefore the grass has to be in-filled with kiln dried sand to help with durability, and has to topped up on a regular basis. Being in-filled with sand also makes them prone to airborne seeding and you can get a fine dusting of sand on top after long dry spells. NON Sand Filled grasses are manufactured with a greater density of yarn and fibres. This adds to the durability of the grass and eliminates the need to add a kiln dry sand filling. It also takes away the requirement to top up with sand from time to time and  possible dusting and airborne seeding.

I can imagine that the surface will need cleaning from time to time?

Yes, of course but that is easy to do. Just use a stiff brush and warm soapy water if you have any mess from animals. You can use a jet wash if the soiling is very bad. Leaves and other plant material can just be swept away with a stiff broom.

Talking about soiling, what about the delicate problems with dogs?

No problem! Use warm water and detergent after removing the main soiling. You can even use bleach on our products (but of course remember to take the normal safety precautions with strong chemicals).

How does the water drain away?

Our products come with a latex backing and are pre hole punched to assist with drainage. The membrane below is porous, so surface water just drains through it. It drains far quicker than a conventional lawn because of the care we take with the base preparation.

Although artificial grass can save you having to constantly mow and can look perfect all year round, it still does not make your garden 100% maintenance free, so some garden care is still required.
